Problems came to light in late October 2011 with weepage around some tubes and stays and a broken rivet in the foundation ring. The decision was taken to bring forward the engine's 10 yearly heavy general overhaul as a boiler lift was needed to address the broken rivet, and a full retube is also needed. |

is undergoing its 10 yearly heavy general overhaul. The boiler is
receiving specialist repairs in Loughborough, the underframe is in
the running shed at the Ribble Steam Railway in Preston where
space has kindly been
found for the FRT to work on the motion pending the return of the
boiler later this year.
