The
Lakeside Railway Society is the voluntary supporting body to the Lakeside
& Haverthwaite Railway, and its members have the chance to do all the operational
jobs on the line - from gardening to actually driving the locomotives.
The Society's Chairman is Alan Middleton. Alan was in his 40th year as the society's General Secretary when he took on the role in 2007 swapping roles with Linda Weldon, who stepped down from the top job. Details of who's who in the LRS can be found here.

Membership of the Lakeside Railway Society brings a variety of benefits, including automatic, free, membership of the Furness Railway Trust. Although the Trust has now moved all its locomotives, carriages and wagons away fromthe L&HR, it should be stressed that members of the LRS are still very welcome at the L&HR.
All
members are entitled to three free return trips a year on the line, and all
Senior and Junior members receive a free copy of the award-winning "The
Iron Horse" magazine, published Spring, Summer and Autumn.
Every winter we organise a series of talks and slide shows in Furness and Preston. The two branch groups provide a valuable social gathering when the Railway is not operating its passenger services.
The Society has its own members badge, and its own tie, which features the badge on a plain background. Both items may be purchased from the Membership Secretary.
Subscriptions are used to finance the Society, to produce the Society's award-winning Magazine "The Iron Horse", and to assist individual Society projects.
Our Society Officers give their services free and do not receive honoraria.
