The branch meets once every other month during the winter months in Ulverston, the nearest town to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, the home of the LRS.
Talks only take place in the winter months, from October to March, because there is a great social activity going on in the summer at Haverthwaite, as LRS members help run the L&HR! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, the first step is to apply for LRS membership, and the Membership Secretary will send you details of how you can become an active volunteer.
Friday 14th March at the Kings Arms, King Street in Ulverston, starting 8pm
Top railway author Adrian Vaughan gives an eagerly anticipated talk.
A former signalman on the Western Region of British Railways, he has since found fame with an extensive portfolio of railway books exploring a wide range of historical and more recent topics. He can sometimes be controversial; this promises to be a fascinating evening.
The LRS has been hoping to attract Adrian to Ulverston for some time, and is delighted to present this meeting, in association with the Cumbrian Railways Association.
The meeting is open to all. Admission is free but there will be a retiring collection to cover costs.
