Austerity 0-6-0ST "Cumbria"

Our first steam locomotive, and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway's highest mileage engine, which has now topped 100,000 miles service in preservation! "Cumbria" served with the War Department before being bought in 1973. "Cumbria" is currently receiving a "bottom end" overhaul of its motion but is due back in service later this year.

Undergoing cosmetic restoration, our "big" engine will take its place in the queue once 5643 is earning its keep!
This express mixed traffic locomotive is stored away from the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway at the Appleby Heritage Centre, alongside the Settle-Carlisle main line.

"Fluff"

Our very first engine, this diminutive internal combustion locomotive was bought to haul works trains before the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway started running. It's now undergone cosmetic restoration and has been put on display outside the engine shed at Haverthwaite.
